Senior Freelance React Native Engineer (m/f/d)
Project: Vehicle App - On-Demand Platform
Location: Remote (Germany)
Time: 32-40h/week
About the project
We are a mobility technology company building digital infrastructure and products for on-demand and public transport systems. Our platform powers demand-responsive transport, fleet management, and intelligent mobility solutions across Europe.
As part of our product ecosystem, we develop and operate a Vehicle App used daily by professional drivers. The app supports task management, navigation, and operational workflows for real-world mobility services.
The ioki platform is entirely based on in-house development. The Vehicle App is built with React Native and TypeScript, integrated into a modern backend and CI/CD ecosystem.
The Vehicle App is available in the Google Play Store and Apple App Store and is a mission-critical operational tool for drivers in our on-demand services.
It enables:
- Execution of ride and task workflows
- Navigation and route handling
- Real-time communication with backend systems
- Operational state management
- Continuous feature expansion based on product and customer needs
The objective of this role is to maintain, improve, and evolve this application in close collaboration with cross-functional teams.
Your responsibilities
- Develop and maintain the Vehicle App (React Native, TypeScript)
- Implement new features based on internal product requirements and customer feedback
- Ensure reliable app releases via our CI/CD pipeline (GitHub Actions, Expo)
- Maintain and update dependencies
- Contribute to high test coverage, including E2E testing
- Participate in cross-team discussions (backend, design, product) to shape upcoming features
- Uphold clean architecture and code quality standards
Required experience
- Several years of professional experience with React Native and TypeScript
- Strong expertise in Node.js, React, HTTP, and JSON APIs
- Solid understanding of mobile architecture and app lifecycle
- Experience working in agile development environments
- Structured and disciplined approach to testing, documentation, and clean code
- Strong English communication skills
- Availability of 32-40 hours per week
Nice to have
- Experience with native Android/iOS development or native modules
- Experience with Redux / RTK Query
- CI/CD experience (especially GitHub Actions)
- E2E testing experience (Maestro)
- Experience with Sentry
- Background in mobility, vehicle, or driver-facing applications
- Experience with geospatial or GIS-based systems
- Driver’s license and presence in the Rhein/Main region
