Ruby Unconf? Yes!

But wait… do you know exactly what “unconf” means? What are they doing there?

An Unconference is a Barcamp style event, where everybody can propose a talk and they will vote for the talk they want to see. The most voted talks will be held. The participants can decide what will happen at the event! All of this, combined with Ruby… of course, we couldn’t say no 🤯

Ruby holds a place in our hearts. As Ruby is a core part of our ioki tech stack, we are always looking forward to expanding our knowledge on this as well to support the Ruby community by sponsoring Ruby Unconf since 2018! 🎉🎊

Well, this year, Ruby Unconf was held in Hamburg, the city of Franzbrötchen 🥐

But for us, Hamburg is not only about the Franzbrötchen. Hamburg is ioki’s home turf, since we launched one of our services there! (hvv hop, anyone? 👀)

150 participants, 10 talks, 1 lightning talk, 1 workshop all given from community members!

Our Chief Technology Officer (CTO), Christian Bäuerlein, also received the votes from the participants to hold a talk: “The Lost Art of Single File Ruby Program”. Christian showed some Ruby fun facts and examples to organize your code in a single file, in useful and sometimes experimental and creative ways.

That being said, we are super excited for Ruby Unconf 2024 and looking forward to it! 🙌🕺
